BBQ Spaghetti

If you know me in real life, you know that I have a slight obsession with barbecue sauce....I put it on everything....Burgers, french fries, as a dip for pretzels, etc. But I have never , ever put it on spaghetti before!!! Until last night, when I made BBQ spaghetti! Don't judge until you've tried it. It's one of those "so weird it must be good" things! It was absolutely divine!!!

BBQ Spaghetti

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1/2 yellow onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon garlic salt
3 1/2 cups Neely's BBQ sauce, recipe follows
1 pound pork, beef, or chicken, cooked and chopped into bite size pieces
1 pound spaghetti

Directions:

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Saute the pepper and onion until softened, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the garlic salt. Add the BBQ sauce and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to a low simmer and add the chopped meat.

Meanwhile, fill a large pot with water and bring to boil. Season liberally with salt and add spaghetti. Cook until al dente (firm but not hard), about 7 minutes, and drain. Toss spaghetti with sauce.

Neely's BBQ Sauce

2 cups ketchup
1 cup water
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
5 tablespoons light brown sugar
5 tablespoons sugar
1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Cooked uncovered, stirring frequently, for 1 hour 15 minutes.

Yield: 3 1/2 cups

I found the recipe on Food Network's site, courtesy of "Down Home with the Neelys". If you have the time, you must make the BBQ sauce as well. It is VERY good. I suppose you could substitute store bought, but I don't think it would taste the same...Also, I used ground beef instead of the meat suggested. Hubby refilled his plate three (!!!!!) times, he like it that much! I plan on making more of The Neely's recipe very soon. They all sound dee-lish!

Have you ever tasted the goodness that is Greek Yogurt???

Once you try it, I promise you will never go back to ordinary yogurt again. It's deliciously smooth and creamy and tastes more like sour cream or creme fraiche. I like my Greek yogurt plain, made with whole milk and cream....really healthy, I know! Greek yogurt also comes in low or non-fat and in a variety of flavors. I personally like the versatility of plain, since you can mix it with preserves, honey or maple syrup if you want a sweet treat, or with herbs or dip mix if you need a healthy dip for crackers or veggies! You can buy Greek yogurt at most grocery stores now, it has become quite popular!

Oh my, what a looooong break I've been on between posts...Yikes!! My computer basically ceased to exist, and now I am on my hubby's hand-me down MacBook, which I hate with a passion!!!
Will try to start posting regularly again just in time for the Season! Speaking of, do you all know that Pampers commercial with the babies sleeping to "Silent Night'? Pretty much makes me cry every single year!!! Silent Night is my all time favorite Christmas Song. Happy weekend y'all!!!
Im off to my son's soccer game in a bit, and there is a TJ Maxx conveniently located on my way there....Hopefully they'll have some Lilly P. I have been pretty lucky with finding Lilly Pulitzer @ my local O-town TJ Maxx s. So far, I was able to find two cute Dasha dresses,
a casual striped dress, a patched skirt, and a Sweetie polo. I'll post some pics next week. I have never been to the TJ Maxx in Oviedo, FL however, so wish me luck. We all know that they can be hit or miss....Maybe I'll dedicate an entire post next week to TJ Maxx, my newest recession-obsession!
No posts for me over the weekend, as I'm off for some R&R @ the beach house! See ya Monday!

Hey second post on my first day! I am on a roll...

Anywho, I just heard through the grapevine that the most fabulous Miss Trish of Capri will be making an appearance @ Target stores starting April 5th. And at roughly $29 a pair, that is what yours truly considers a bargain, since they usually run in the $200-$300s. Me thinks these gold metallic lion sandals would look a-dorable with a Lilly dress, such as this one....

Good morning my fellow blog-o-philes! I finally caved in an decided to start a blog of my own. Yay for me being motivated to learn new things!!! For those of you that don't know me, I am stay-at-home mom of two sweet little boys, wife of one sweet big man, and an all around happy camper! I am not quite certain what direction this blog will take, may it be all about fashion, fabulous finds and such; or if I may add some commentary on current events and pop culture.
I love all things southern and preppy, and am fortunate enough to live in always sunny FL! That means I can wear Lilly year 'round, hooray! Funny enough, I was born and raised in Germany, and thus am not at all native southerner! I came to the US to go to college (Go Cats!!), where I fell in love with my future hubby, this amazing country we live in, the South, and all things pink and green (ok, THAT was totally my sorority's fault). And the rest is, so they say, history. Fast forward a lot of years later, and voila, here I am trying to blog! Enjoy reading my musings, and thank you all for being my reader!
